Tattoos in Mayberry

I was lovin you,
when a monkey first climbed a tree.
and I was lovin you,
when man first slithered from The Sea.
and I was lovin you,
when your devils fell from grace.
and I was lovin you
even when you vanished without
leavin' a trace.
 I was lovin you
til the end of time..
So glad you're one of mine
Since, I've been lovin you
when your Sun don't shine..
And, I was lovin you
when you had  your very first toke
and I was lovin you
when you thought my music, politics
everything about my work
was just a joke
and I was lovin you .
when your good book was still young.
And,I was lovin you,
when your momma was runnin hot streaks,
and having her very high fun.
I was lovin you, oh yes  I was
Til our Sun don't shine
 I'll be there lovin you,
From a safe distance.
and I was lovin you
when you threw your first penny
beside that stone wishin well.
And I was lovin you
before there was a heaven or a hell.
and I was lovin you
when your horses were still runnin free
and
I was lovin you
when your flower
first got buzzed by them big bad bumble bees

I was lovin you
Your first day til  the end of the line
so glad you're one of mine
I was lovin you from a
til the end of the line..
So, get them cobwebs
out your attic
don't cause me no static
electricity
Don't get that mess on me
then, come on downtown
and I'll straighten you right out

Cause one-two-three-strikes
and you're out.
side out
I don't want to only be there
for you when you're alone and lonely
I wouldn't want to be
your last or only out.

Dedicated to my Son Michael...
