"Good Friday"
A day of penance fasting and prayer
One of sadness, and of mourning
A day of loss, to all . . . Who were there
As the earth quaked, without warning
"Father unto Thy hands, I commend my spirit"
Were the last words, they heard Jesus utter
In a voice so faint, one could barely hear it
Just to think on it, makes one shudder. . . .
But in due time. . . He would prove Himself
When He arose, after the third day . . .
Leaving an empty tomb, And burial cloths
Returning to Heaven, and paving our way
For our Salvation, He gave His life. . .
A Ransom, He paid in full, for all
A way to escape Hell's fire, and strife
Redeeming all man, great and small
Thank you, Lord Jesus, for what you did
For us sinners, Those many years ago. . .
A call for repentance., is now your bid
As you let Your love and mercy flow
