The Haunting
The Haunting
Have you ever been haunted,
By someone you once knew,
But we go thru life undaunted,
Even with feelings of déjà vu.
We tend to see them everywhere,
That we choose to go,
We just look up and they are there,
A face from long ago.
Now surely these people can't be real,
But just our imagination,
We keep hoping they will reveal,
Why there are here as an aberration.
We try to sneak up on them,
To find out all we can,
Are they here to praise or condemn,
We must learn their plan.
By now we are feeling paranoid,
Thinking all the worst,
Do we confront or avoid,
We are confused at first.
Then we realize we are dealing,
With memories of other times,
We know that we are feeling,
Like we all do sometimes.
We all have some unfinished business,
Somewhere in our lives,
And it causes us some distress,
When those feelings revive.
We must learn to gain the upper hand,
When we feel this way,
Of ourselves we must demand,
A clear head to keep the ghosts away.
