Swords and knives , Bullets and guns
Are all weapons of war~
Bombs and planes , Mines and tanks
Can all hurt people even more~
But the most dangerous of all things
That can hurt and do ever so much wrong~
Is a simply lie or unfound accusation
A mentioned assumption can be so strong~
One untruth can wreck an entire life
A simple rumor can do the damage of all above~
Drive in some cases souls to their grave
Break up marriages and destroy true love~
We've all seen this happen along life's way
Both with strangers and those we've known~
We have all seen the after effects of same
When things like these have grown~
One single word of one single simple lie
Can hurt so,ruin and ever so destroy~
It only ever takes one untruth to be set free
And the wrecking of life,and worse it could employ~
In life many many reasons Ive heard told
Why ever so many act this way~
Way too many to ever mention
But the end results all much the same end of day~
In life it appears often as a distasteful fog
No one ever sees it coming~
Not until it does it's work
Little if no prevention or chance of out running~
It's like a match in a driest field of grass
It eventually burns fast and out of control~
Set to be often deliberately
Been no different since days of old~
