 April Fools Day
Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

At Christmas time we celebrate the birthday of Jesus
And being with family, parties or just presents, for the non-believers
At Easter when Jesus died on the cross we celebrate the resurrection
And our new half eaten Easter egg collection
On Valentines Day we celebrate being with our loved ones
And tuck into a different kind of Hot Cross Buns
We even celebrate our national day
And fly our flags on that holiday
We then celebrate other religious day too
Regardless of whether they might be false or true
Then we have our best day to celebrate, the day we were born
Into the big wide world of advertisement porn
Today is April the first
A day not actually officially celebrated, which is perverse!
So? Today we will celebrate April Fools
A day when mischief rules
Pranks and tricks and little white lies
Up till midday, then the fool just dies
April 1st was originally the first day of New Year
Until 1582 when we adopted the Gregorian calendar
However some people in France didn't like this change
So on April 1st tricks and jokes they would exchange
April is the Star sign of the fish, Pisces
So on April 1st the New Year rebels would create a crisis
By placing heads of fish down peoples shirts
In protest of the old New Year being reversed
It wasn't until the 18th Century
That April Fools became parody
200 years later, we can still do tricks
On unsuspecting stupid pricks
Of course the World now is full of fools
Hoaxes and prank calls
But on this special day that was once New Year
It gives me another excuse to have a beer.
