On Guard
While searching for that someone,
For to call my own,
I look here and there and still have none,
Although some great ladies I have known.
Maybe it's me I say to myself,
Perhaps I am looking too hard,
I might be putting my feelings on a shelf,
And being a little too on guard.
We all tend to hide ourselves,
In one way or another,
Afraid of having someone delve,
Into our past, our lives, and our cover.
Then I stop and think what I've begun,
And I realize what have I to fear,
I really want to find someone,
After all that's why we are here.
I would love to hear from one and all,
I will not be excluding any,
I am not wanting to build a wall,
Because friends I need aplenty.
So my arms are open as you see,
Please come and gather round,
If you want to know some about me,
Come and see what can be found.
