The street preacher loudly yells,
‘Repent or you'll end up in hell!'
But I work for charity,
So this surely wont apply to me.
The Minister gently tells,
‘You don't want to hear hells bells.'
But I'm the model employee,
I think God will approve of me.
I don't believe all that stuff,
It's just more religious bluff,
And at the pearly gate you'll find,
St Peter, like me, is very kind.
So tell please why you think,
Your grumpy God without one blink,
Will send me to that boiling hell,
Not letting me past that pearly shell?
My good friend and citizen,
Your grand resume is quite a gem.
A dedicated worker of charity,
But this doesn't determine destiny.
The street preacher's message – neglected,
God ignored ~~ Jesus rejected.
Self righteousness, oft called pride,
Has determined where you will abide.
God's not grumpy because you're kind,
Nor for awards for helping the blind,
In this life he just patiently waits,
So later He can greet you at pearly gates.
Come ~ today of pride repent,
Thank God for our Saviour sent,
Accept forgiveness, freely given,
Then you'll have the key to Heaven.
