I lived a life so long ago
I know within my heart and very soul~
A life so very long ago
That now is long ago and old~
I remember those now oldest kerosene lamps
The days when cars they first became~
Loved then those lushest carpets grand
And furniture was never plain~
I remember how we dressed back then
In the turn of the last century~
Loved so all those old school values
When long ago back then was me~
All of my life I know within
That I've been there long ago before~
If I could go back I know I'd know
And could even find my own front door~
I know I was a man of means
But both humble and sincere in my way~
And all about that time back then
If I could go back I would stay~
I remember the colored glass in doors
Walking canes and para cells
Roman domes on building of so high
And the ringing of those church bells~
Horse coaches and then ships of sail
There was a substance that was ever fine~
An amount of sophistication in a gentle way
A time I knew that was divine~
I remember that new years eve
From eighteen to nineteen hundred then~
I close my eyes and there I am once more
Would not mind going back ag'en~
Love then too came first as well
Over riches many a time~
A true loving heart was priceless ever so
In those early years of love and loves true wine~
I remember being there within my soul
Living in a time now I don't belong~
All that time ago I was myself
This life for me is now yesterdays song~
Romance back then it was romance
And one courted and thus to find~
A heart so true that one loved and knew
But now ... It's all back there behind~
