Now I went shopping to Asda, on the 5th of May,
And met a lovely gal, on a lovely summers day.
She stood with a beaming smile, collecting for the R.S.P.C.A.
And yes, I have to say it, you lot there are all o.k.
Now we have of course, Paula, who I'm told is…oh, so cool,
She's always collecting pets, cos she's an animal fool!
What a list she has, she's got a real ‘full house',
And I even heard a whisper she's even got a mouse!
Now she works on reception, and greets us with a smile or two,
Helps us when we want a pet, and makes sure that we will do.
Then we're on to Caroline, Deputy Manager, I believe,
All the staff thinks you're brill, you've got them hanging off your sleeve.
Head of cattery we have Chris, Paula Mac, you're a Deputy too,
It's a busy place, that's for sure, and there's lots of work to do.
Head kennel keeper is Joanne, Sharon is her Deputy…I'm told,
And a dickybird informed me you're cool…if I'm so bold!
Jason, Sue and Ann, are care assistants, for the pets there,
Working your little tails off, because you really care!
We have another receptionist - Caroline is her name,
Keeping things under control and helping things keep sane!
Last, but least, the Manager, Jill, who pulls the gang together!
And keeps things running smoothly, in any kind of weather!
Of course we mustn't forget, the animals all herein,
Who patiently wait for loving homes for their new lives to begin!
They deserve another chance in life, but until those days occur,
If you pop along to ‘Cross Lane, Wallasey', you'll find them waiting there.
Pets are the heart and soul of us, and bring out in us, our best,
And if you ever doubt it, put them to the test!
With a pet you'll never be alone, and you'll have a friend for life,
A bit of time and a lot of love, they'll never cause you strife.
So as it's animal awareness week, make a solemn vow…
To adopt a loving pet, don't wait, go and choose one now!
The friendly staff are waiting, to invite you in,
(You'll know who Paula is…she's wearing a great big grin)!
I think you all should take a bow, and take a pat on the back,
For all the selfless work you do, and may you never get the sack!
Pet awareness week is on us, and you lot come up tops,
Once more I will reiterate, you are the pick of the crops!
