Rivers of my Mind
Fragments of yesterdays come into focus
From unexpected sights, smells, sounds…
You hit my heart with such full force
I nearly stumbled in my steps,
Gave lengthy pause and smiled.
Yes, I still smile at the thought of you.
I could never hate the man you are
After loving you these many years.
Our life together was not all bad
And I choose to erase the unpleasant from my soul.
I cannot fully explain where I "emotionally" was
When we ended – perhaps someday…someday.
Just know loving thoughts of you
Still surface from time to time,
Through the ever flowing rivers of my mind.
