Signs Of SpringSpring is like the earth giving birth A new beginning Winter long gone to bed Everything laid dormant Brittle roots like skeletons Crawled up out of the earth As the bright sun rises Skies, bluest of blues Clouds like cotton balls, soft, light, and fluffy Lighter, longer, warmer days Feel and breathe The Springtime breeze Whispering through the trees As the trees awake Hanging limbs like fingertips at the ends Bursting their buds flourishing leaves Blades of green grass pushing though the rich soil Beautiful flowers bloom and smile Color of lilac seen everywhere Lilacs blossom Spraying their lovely scent Love is in the air Birds sweetly chirp and sing Melodies heard so clear Birds build their nest Bees swarm and buzz Butterflies flutter Spreading their delicate wings Squirrels busily scurry Scamper searching the ground All the earth, nature, and creatures come alive Spring is like the earth giving birth A new beginning © April 22, 2008 Janet Irene Griffin Vote for this poem
