All Night Prayer MeetingThere was nothing more scary in this whole world. Than an all night prayer meeting when I was a little girl. ~Q~ The preacher preached fire and brimstone and said the devil was waiting. If we were sinners we would be alone if for our sins we didn't atone. ~Q~ The congregation felt the power it sure was a noisy crowd. They shouted up and down the aisle from the pulpit to the door. Some were singing and praying some kneeling on the floor God must have been proud. ~Q~ My mama was shouting and praying and running all around. I was hiding behind a seat to scared to make a sound ~Q~ And oh my goodness what a fright when a storm would come. With thunder roaring and lightning flashing I wondered if I had been reborn. And for my sins I had atoned I thought the Lord was coming with all His fire and brimstone. ~Q~ Today now that I am old I think back to that time. About the preacher who preached fire and brimstone so brave and bold and that shouting mama of mine. ~Q~ We need that religion to day the old time kind in our churches Shouting up and down the aisle from the pulpit to the door. Praying and singing and kneeling on the floor the fire and brimstone way. ~Q~ Rom.10-15 How beautiful the feet of them that preach and how shall they preach. How beautiful are the feet of them That preach the gospel of peace. And bring glad tidings of good things. Poem By Clara Strickland All Rights reserved   Vote for this poem
