Ethereal Moments The Poetry of Donavon Scott Vinson
Surviving The Raging Fires of Combat
A transparent filmy veil of relief
wraps itself lovingly around my soul.
The tendrils of its warm emotion winds
its sweet way through my heart.
The terrible pangs of mortal fear
are gently erased from my mind.
And my life is safe once again from
the frightful scenes of death and
the torrent of bloodshed.
For I have survived the raging fires
of this horrible day of combat.
