Finally a spring like day
I think I'll go out and play
So much for April showers
I'm going out and plant flowers
Started in a morning mist
Beginning as lovers kissed
So quickly forgotten global warming
Until I notice no bee's a swarming
And where this year are my hummingbirds?
I won't feel safe until their safety assured
Still the flowers all must be planted
And weed the hill so badly slanted
On Saturday used to go to garage sales
Price of gasoline no vapor trails
Signs on my flowers of hidden snails
Gonna empty out the compost bin
Doing my part on ecology now and then
This year again I will plant tomatoes
In a large black bin go the potatoes
Boy the apple and prune trees in bloom
I sure hope the bees get here soon
Gone I hope is the last monsooning
Is that coffee I hear in there brewing
A scream---wife found my garden snake
No more gardening will the woman partake
It was just a little tiny thing for heaven's sake
He will a meal of the grubs and slugs make
