"Without loving and caring for others, most of us stand little chance of communing with God, no matter how many years we may spend in silent prayer."
-- Bo Lozoff
Silent Prayer
My Precious Lord, are You aware
Of hours spent in Silent Prayer?
Do my words reach the ceiling tall?
Can You hear my words at all?
I meditate, I mourn, I cry,
Wonder if my prayer is heard on high.
I grieve the loss, I bear the pain,
I carry my cross, yet have no gain.
Then reality begins to break, like dawn.
What you do for others is what carries on.
Prayer alone won't bridge this wide crevasse,
What's done through deeds is what will last.
Arise from knees, beauteous words be gone !!
Let me lift that load you have born so long.
Let me lend a shoulder, give a listening ear,
This burden is lighter than it first appeared.
We can help each other, if you will agree,
And the love we share, will be heavenly.
Together, forever, working side by side,
Caring, prayers, and love, in our hearts abide.

Sometimes it seems my prayers don't even reach the ceiling, but let me lend a hand to a friend, and Heaven's gates open wide.
