 Greenwich Royal Observatory

Every day at precisely,
One o'clock,
The time-ball on its mast,
Atop,
The Old Royal Observatory,
Still drops,
To tell those sailing,
On the Thames below,
To set their chronometers,
Before they go.

In the courtyard,
Set in the cobble-stones,
A straight line is marked,
To show,
The Prime Meridian,
Where East meets West,
And time begins,
For the world.

The most important timepiece,
Ever made,
By John Harrison,
Is here displayed,
He solved the Longitude problem,
So sailors,
In oceans,
Far away,
Would no longer,
Be lost at sea.

The green onion dome,
On its octagonal tower,
Is home,
To the great equatorial telescope,
Looking up,
To the heavens above,
Letting man reach,
Out for the stars.
