So I Loved A Japanese/Or,Little Tokyo, Los Angeles

A Japanese actor's film festival in downtown Little Tokyo, Los Angeles

There she was, cheeky and eagerly showing off her personal pictures of whom she pursued
Side eye-balling me, open mouth dropping as if to say,"You will never have him."
What on earth was she thinking?

I too chased the colorful hem of a Kabuki performer for years
And there I was in Little Toyko
Looking like a cottonball stuck in a cherry blossom
I was not his pick

Just a round eye looking for a slant eye
Pop a Yang
What on earth are they thinking?

Thought I could blend in and melt with the almond cookies
Flip open a Japanese beer and smile like Gidget
Happy Japanese New Year

Clomp, clomp
Wooden shoes and traditional clothing sit down not to near me
A stare embeds into my face like a splinter
I was not welcome there
So, I loved a Japanese
What on earth was I thinking?
