An Old Komodo

If I had a fish
A morsel of food as old as the Bible I would survive

I have walked the same paths with ancients
No child or pet eating serpent am I

If I had a fish
A morsel of food as old as the Bible I would survive

I am Komodo Dragon
You fear I have no feelings
I run because you hurt me
I run because people are the bigger monsters who will eventually kill me.

There are only about 4,000 Komodo's left. They are giant lizards weighing around 154 pounds. I saw an old Komodo get stones thrown at him while he tried to get one fish away from fisherman. He later died of starvation. I have another published poem here called "Extinction".
