Rainy Day Rodeo
He strapped on his chaps and spurs and pulled his hat down low
climbed down in the bucking chute to the back of the bull below
The big old bull had wild eyes and fire in his heart
he was ready when they pulled the gate to rip the rider apart
The rider pulled his bull rope tight and hammered to tighten his grip
put his right hand in the air and said "outside now let him rip"
The big black bull spun from the chute, he bucked with his feet in the air
The rider followed every jump, in eight seconds still was there
The bull spun back with a twist and a turn as the rider flew from his seat
he landed hard in the sloppy arena but his dismount was on both feet
The bull spun around to hit the rider as the bullfight clown jumped in
he took the hit and saved the rider as he landed with a pirouette spin
The ladies shimmer and sparkle as they race around the barrels and poles
their horses turn so sharp and crisp as each one knows it's role
As each horse heads back on the home stretch I see their nostrils flair
the music plays as people cheer and the wave of her pretty long hair
To all the rodeo riders who share all their rodeo skills
thanks from all us spectators who love and enjoy all the thrills
I'll say a little prayer for you now that God will keep you safe
so each and every one of you will later walk from this place.
The thrills and spills of a rodeo on a rainy sloppy day
makes me glad to spectate and watch as Cowboys play
We are helping to put on the fifth annual Big Timber High School rodeo
yesterday and today. The Arena is muddy and each ride is a thrill to watch.
