As we celebrate this Memorial Day
Let us not forget to pause and pray
For those in combat on battle lines
Facing danger of exploding mines
Remember those from history past
Soldiers who stood tall to the last
Fallen heroes deserve our respect
Take the time to ponder and reflect
There are ways we all can take part
Showing appreciation from our heart
Consider my friend what you will do
Here are just a few suggestions, too
Fly U.S. flag at half-staff until noon
Renew a pledge to aid a widow soon
Go to a military service at the cemetery
Reflect as taps sound in their memory
For all who have fought so valiantly
We honor your courage and tenacity
Always serving your country with pride
At home or across nations far and wide
