 Defeated in the Battle
Achan's sin was evil in God's sight
Taking devoted things was not right
The battle of Ai became Israel's fate
They were chased from the city gate

Joshua fell down, tearing his clothes
His cries to God, he freely exposed
If the Jordan they had not crossed
They would not face defeat and loss

God said why are you on your face?
Israel sinned, bringing Me disgrace
Disobeying My covenant this day
Turning their backs, running away

God then revealed to him His plan
Consecrate the people clan by clan
Israel will not stand against enemies
Unless everything is returned to Me

Joshua learned what Achan had done
He said give God all the glory my son
Achan said he saw, coveted, and took
Hidden in his tent, they went to look

Because he had brought about trouble
Stoned to death, they buried his rubble
Israel repented from their wicked way
God returned from His anger that day

There are some lessons for us to learn
Repent from sin and to God return
God knows our hearts deep inside
It does not pay to run away and hide

Based on Joshua 7
