At five, I knew all I had to know;
I asked Mom--where did she go?
At seven, starting to challenge authority.
Without desipline where would I be?
Twelve, some of the things I knew were wrong.
But admitting so would I not be strong?
Sixteen it was all about girls!
The good looking, the bad, the Pearls.
Nineteen, alone, I had to face the world!
So for me under the American flag unfurled.
22, college, marriage, I had to know everything.
I had loved ones in the world I must bring.
Now, at seventy, wisdom learned and gray---!
I pass on to those who might listen out of the way.
When I was young my Grandpa knew everything!
So it is my time to shine take these youngsters under my wing.
