Waste of Youth

Deprived, degraded… discarded
such waste of youth it's a crime
nothing creative demanded
left with no hope every time.
Boundaries always judgemental
freedom of spirit denied
locked into societies conscience
but always alone when they cry.
Our youth will be our tomorrow
street corners are no place to learn
but Governments it seem never understand
and much less seem really concerned.
Our world now has overflowed with sadness
men being men and dark wars
thousands of children die hungry each day
and our youth keep all the scores.
Yet we hope that their life will be good
and the street corners where they will learn
won't leave them deprived, degraded… discarded
like their children who'll take their turn!
