Embrace The Morning
Sweet through the window
another chance, coffee pots,
tea kettles, eggs cracking,
potatoes sizzling, pancakes
flipping, hot water on our
dreamy heads, smell of soap,
shampoo, our dry towel,
freshly washed,
sweet through the window
another chance, the game
of life, the biggest game
of all, people tuned in all
over the world, all the time,
the ratings are always through
the roof, nobody misses that one,
nobody wants to miss that one,
sweet through the window
another chance, I will make
her smile today, I will buy
her flowers today, I will
talk to my sister today,
my mother, father,
I will garden, fix things,
write, slow cook something
and fill the house with holidays,
sweet through the window
another day, I will walk
our dog Gypsy, I will buy
her a treat, get the clouds
out of the fish tank,
don't wanna take days
for granted, don't wanna
lose one of these beautiful
chances, this miraculous gift,
that we never stop
unwrapping.
