 BLAME FOR THE RAP GAME
The poem CRUEL CLOWNS
Was about those who put us down
Young poet who keeps trying
Old poet who could be vying
For another go of time
With some rhyme
Or the rhythm
Of the verse
Cruel clowns see our poetry as the curse
Not a gift
To lift
One out of depression
With heartfelt confession
Of our kind
That will shine
Through your anger
You're not a stranger
To the hating
Hiding, waiting
To strike out
That we're no good
Our raps ain't heard
We couldn't write our name
Without the conflict of your blame
Now some are leaving
It leaves me grieving
It seems you feel no disgrace
For the pain on my face
We just want to write
Without poetry fight
Have some tact
About the fact
That all struggle
While some want to snuggle
In the warm of poetrypoem
Where the sun of words will show 'em
Ya---can't keep a poet down
Cruel clowns with your evil sound
Get away from hurtin' others
Some of us are mothers
Or fathers
Who will not be bothered
Paying for a circus
That's not funny
We'd rather spend our hard-earned money
On a rap game
Where no one is to blame
The cruel clown show must end
To begin
The healing process
What's it gonna cost us
As your cruel tricks burn
When you gonna learn
Be ballin' for the poetry
No matter what you do to me
'Cuz heartunes is my rap game
Gonna ignore your blame
But some can't
Understand the pain you rant
That cuts into our hearts
Tears our minds apart
Cruel clowns the circus just left town
'Cuz we're not gonna let you put us down.
