The Color Blue

The Color Blue

When I came upon this picture
It seemed to carry with it a sad tale
Of someone that used to do the dishes
Cook the meals and get the mail

I see her to be someone
That finds herself nightly
Sitting on a stool
In an unfeeling smokey get away
That lonely hearts seem to drift to

So I will give to her
Her story
This picture speaks to me a thousand words
Of someone who is lost and lonely
And needing to be seen and heard

She is picture who could be anyone
Her heart yearning to replace the tears
She is someone that had no intention
Of her life ever ending up here

She lived for him and only him
But when he walked away
She slowly slipped into the vision
That you see above today

At first it was just for some laughs
A night or two on the town

And then

Well the kids are at grandma's
I'll just go see who is around

Hey sweetie how about a beer
It has been a very long day
As one beer found another
She allowed herself to be led away

Now every night has became the same
She waits for any stranger to appear
She has fallen into the trap of weeping hearts
Searching for love within a beer

Of course when it is all over
When her head begins to clear
This poor
'Lady Of The Evening' wonders

How did I let myself end up here

The moral to this story
I will leave that up to you
But when I look upon this picture

I can see
Only the color Blue

Blue may be the color of the sky
The pretty color of a bird
But in the loneliness of a grieving heart

~ Blue ~

Is more than just a color or a word
