Poetry For Everyday People

Open

I'm wrapping myself
in these words,
a life time here,
always, preserved,
as the pharaohs of Egypt,
I too, have found a way,
some things they can't
take away from us,

what our eyes have seen,
what our hearts have felt,
what our spirits have endured,
what we dreamed and pursued,
the beautiful relationships,

the life, our life,

I find it best not to think
about the end, I find music
love and wine a much better
alternative, poetry on the rocks,
friendships that can melt your
eyes thinking about all the love,
all the times we've come through
for one another,

a toast to you my people,
friends, family, strangers
with kind eyes, underdogs,

this is my everlasting garden,
my corner bar, my blues band,

and all
are always welcome.
