We all go back after awhile
To places we had been~
Special spots along life's road
Lovely scenes that we had seen~
But often when we do this
So much had really changed~
Time and life it takes it's toll
So much often rearranged~
But once place I re traveled to
In amongst my many an endless mile~
I stood and could not believe my eyes
And I stood there with such a smile~
The waves they washed those same old rocks
As they'd always done before~
The sea breezes blew in from the ocean
As they traveled to the shore~
Those oldest trees tall still they stood
Only just above the sand~
That same old moon hid behind those clouds
The fragrance of the sea was still as grand~
Been so very long since I'd been here
So very pleasing it was to find~
That all was just as always was
So very long after since that time~
So many things always changing
Not much at all is left alone~
But that little beach is still the same
Not far from where I then had made my home~
