The night dark, I approached Kiln Lane
inside my heart such an empty pain,
my mind drifting to love, its need
quietly wishing, to God I there plead.
Visions I held in dreams for so long
echoed feelings in a beautiful song,
I started whistling the tune I knew well
a story of romance this ballad would tell.
Passing a gate of unusual size
a woman whispered to my surprise,
nervously I stopped, my name she called
my journey home suddenly stalled.
Turning around I could not conceive
nor this woman I saw would you believe,
my dreams of love this night came true
to my sight she walked clearly to view.
Dressed in white with eyes so blue
around her doves of love they flew,
behind the gate lay paradise
I looked just once, I need not twice.
Beyond my heart and soul was saved
with every wish I'd made displayed,
for all loves pain, these tears I've cried
on Kiln Lane's walk, my dream arrived.
