Skyler was the first to be hungry to be
hungry. It starts from the youngest on up.
TJ was next he was just a growing pup. It
was up to the eldest of the travelers to
find food. Hannah was just not in the mood.
Ryan always carried his fishing pole but
seldom had bait. No lunches packed it was
now up to fate. In his tackle box was a nine
volt battery and some Brillo pads. It would
be a hint the kids learned from their dads.
Kids should not play with matches you know.
But rub the Brillo pads on a battery and an
emergency fire will glow.
They should start by looking for worms for
fishing or there might be berries. Dad warned
of deadly Nightshade berries so the red ones
were out. Skyler was rubbing her belly beginning
to pout. To which the older kids did shout,
"It's not your belly it's Mom and Dad lost
we are worried about!"
They found the berry bushes trampled and some
wild edible leak. The bear had gone the trail
let up the creek. With tracks all around they
had to make up ground. For Mom and Dad were
being hunted and the two of them they had to
be found. The younger of the traveler were of
course afraid of bear. But they would say nothing
seeing the stares. Ryan and TJ had slingshots
Brent had Dad's bow and arrows. Upstream they
went to the point that it narrows. They would
find those two. For that was what kids do. Some-
where though TJ lost one shoe.
