Poetry For Everyday People
A True HandShake Reminds Me Of Dinosaurs
The mind focuses,
leaves sway, like
kids playing close
by, I hold my breath,
not,
waiting on a human being
to do: what they said they would.
Excuses mostly remind me
of a big red balloon lie,
flying high, going nowhere,
ice sitting in the sun crying
when we all have refrigerators,
what can you say?
you constantly have to
eliminate,
leaves fall off the tree,
like kids letting go your
hand on the first day
of school, the wind taken them,
as the next handshake
comes your way,
and you look them
in the eyes.
leaves sway, like
kids playing close
by, I hold my breath,
not,
waiting on a human being
to do: what they said they would.
Excuses mostly remind me
of a big red balloon lie,
flying high, going nowhere,
ice sitting in the sun crying
when we all have refrigerators,
what can you say?
you constantly have to
eliminate,
leaves fall off the tree,
like kids letting go your
hand on the first day
of school, the wind taken them,
as the next handshake
comes your way,
and you look them
in the eyes.
