One Flower Under A L.A. Freeway

MiG Alley (To Air Force Pilots, Korean War, 1950)

To thee we sing
to the pilots who flew in Northwest Korea
Hitchhikers that no one picked up until they fell

To thee we sing
to the trails of dog tags, watch bands, and maps
Discovered and plummeted over the missing parts of their lives

To thee we sing
to the pilots who twirled like acrobats without a net in the air
Burned up like fireflies as their families still look out their windows every night in hope to see a spark light up the sky.

* Note:MiG Alley was also where numerous aerial dogfights occured. It was the first large scale jet versus jet of air battles. Birthplace of jet fighter combat.
