Petals In The Grass

So Cliche

Everything has been said
There is nothing new to say
All of my words are sounding
So cliche

How can I top
"it lasted an eternity"?
How can I introduce
An essence of modernity?

I can't be more original than
"for the life of me"
For those of you reading this
I know you would agree

Who was the architect of
"the pot calling the kettle black"?
That person really does
Deserve a plaque

Let us not forget
"i hate to burst your bubble"
I bet that stirred up
All kinds of trouble

All the good stuff is taken
Much to my dismay
How can I keep from sounding
So cliche?
