Andy

Andy

He swept the floors
In our local grocery store
Always a big smile on his face
HIS  job
So loved and embraced

I had seen him there for years
Each time I entered ...
He appeared
It seemed he never was at home
Guess maybe
He did not like the word ...

Alone

I never knew his name
For not asking I'm ashamed
But ...
When he touched the heart of me
I simply named him

.... Andy

There never was a need to ask
For help to reach a can
If he should pass

''Ma'am how are you today?''
Then again he was on his way

I must admit
I hate to grocery shop!
Not just a little
But ...
QUITE  ALLOT!

With the basket all but filled
There still waits the line
To pay the bill

At the counter in front of me
Would stand always a smiling Andy
Paper or plastic Ma'am?
What will it be?

The store?
Its not open anymore

With the closing of its doors
Went the young man
That swept the floors

Ribbons of genes
A little out of place
Brought to him
His loving face

With a whole
New set of rules
What would he do
In a world so often
Far too cruel

Well ....
I have a new place to shop
I still hate it quite a lot
But ....
If you were with me a
Smile you just might see

YEP!
He is there

My friend ....
My friend Andy

For Andy . . .

Life is just not living
If
Standing outside the fire!

WAY  TO  GO  ANDY!
I'm rooting for ya!
