Clear Skies
I came outside tonight
to clear my head
I looked up at the sky
the sky so still and blue
I came outside tonight
looked up at the tall trees
they were dancing and swaying
I wondered when they grew
Out here is like heaven
glorious air and open space
the temperature has been rising
it's been a hot and muggy day
The slightest breeze is felt
listening to the soft sounds
of the wind chimes
I could stay out here all night
Sounds of air conditioners running
folks trying to stay cool
children at play
squealing from a distance
Two youngsters walking a dog
chatting with each other
birds sweetly chirping
street lights coming on
Quiet street, few cars pass by
someone beating drums afar
pleasant sounds to the ears
fish pond next door
Splashing against the rocks
colorful fish happily swimming
calming waterfall flowing
I hear a siren somewhere off
Not very good news
I could stay out here longer
refreshing in the passing breeze
as I turn the door knob
I'll be right back inside
before the mosquitoes find me
my head is clear
and the skies are clear and blue
