You hear about hope every day
But has it become just a cliché?
Listen to some ways it is used
It seems to be a word abused
I hope it does not rain today
I hope my cold will go away
I hope I do well on the test
I hope I finally get some rest
These represent a wishful hope
Do they give us ability to cope?
One we cannot control anyway
The rest depend on us each day
Why not change I hope to I pray?
If you really mean it that way
But you may step on some toes
For the heart, only God knows
But consider hope as a certainty
Notice the way it affects eternity
Only one of the following is fact
The other is how some people react
Like you, I am not a perfect lad
But my good will exceed the bad
Only God will determine my fate
I hope I make it through the gates
If God is loving, as I have heard
Then I hope he will keep his word
I believe he will grade on the curve
Not sending me to hell as I deserve
OR
My hope is in Christ; He is alive
It is a sure hope that when I die
To my heavenly home I will go
Because He is in my heart I know
Jesus died for my sin on Calvary
He rose from the grave in victory
Believing in Him, I am forgiven
Only by His grace freely given
1 Peter 1:3 (NIV)
Praise be to the God and Father of our
Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy
he has given us new birth into a living
hope through the resurrection of Jesus
Christ from the dead.
