Glorious eternal God of All,
Your wisdom, power and creativity,
Surpasses that of our greatest minds,
Yet shows amazing grace at the nativity.
It is incredible – Eternal God born!
The eternal one from eternity past,
Suckling at his earthly mother's breast,
Humbled for a time, our Saviour came at last.
Crucified, dying for you and me,
Buried in a borrowed tomb.
It could not constrain the eternal one,
He arose on time like leaving his mother's womb.
A worldwide chorus ascends to day,
We exalt your glorious name,
We revere your Holy name,
We confess you as our Lord and God,
We accept your forgiving grace,
We trust you Lord to provide and lead,
We ask your Holy Spirit to prompt teach and guide,
That our humble service will bring you joy.
As we pray, Lord God of Heaven,
Answer our prayers in a special way,
In a way that glorifies your great name,
And draws lost souls to you today.
Our world is wrenched by sorrow and grief,
Misery inflicted by greed and desire to control.
For the glory of your precious name, Lord
Bring justice and peace to our troubled world.
Lord, long ago this people's prayer you taught,
We ask your forgiveness this very day,
For we too are blighted with selfish greed,
We repent Lord, change our behaviour we pray.
Change our attitudes, Lord of Heaven,
Soften our unforgiving hearts,
Bring peace and closure into our lives,
As we in turn forgive grievances past.
This poem has been sent to you my friend,
Sent with humility, love and care,
Because today I prayed especially for you,
Asking God to touch your heart,
Asking that the greatest gift be yours,
The peace of God, promised to all who call,
To those who call out to the King of kings,
To those who seek the Lord of lords,
He is faithful and loves you, warts and all.
