A Thumping Headache
Unfocused and throbbing-
a sharp shooting pang-
a circular burning-
a blackness with bang.
Igniting and shooting-
a slither of light-
a scatter of purple-
a lurch in the night.
A rushing and reeling-
an echo with curse-
a shadow repeating-
a pain getting worse.
A straining and rolling-
a stabbing so stark-
a longing for lightness-
to lessen this dark.
A sipping and slurping-
a swallow with hope-
this horrible headache
is really no joke!
Joy Weare.
