One Destined to Be Great

They called the man a boxer
One destined to be great
But deep inside, the boxer knew
He lacked what it would take.

Yet, he had won a fight or two
And seemed to give his all
Though often he would find himself
On the ropes, about to fall.

But one night, to the crowd's surprise
While battling in the ring
He knocked his foe unconscious with
A left hook's silent sting.

That's when the gloves came off for good
A lesson he did learn
That strong men can be soft inside
Though most for strength would yearn.

And so, the boxer left the ring
Forever to depart
Because he found for causing pain
He didn't have the heart.
