Why We Smoke

Why we smoke

Why do I smoke? I really don't know
Neither do most people but we continue to do so
We may have began many different ways
And some have quit for a number of days
Some put them down never to smoke again
Others feel it's a battle that they just can't win
Many have smoked even before high school
Maybe peer pressure or just trying to be cool
Whatever the case I do what I do
I don't know why I smoke, what about you?
Some say it calms the nerves and the mind
Helps to leave all of their stress behind
Whatever happens to work, I guess
The doctors say that one can die from stress
They say that cigarettes can kill you to
I don't know why I smoke, what about you
Some like the flavor, they have different taste
Others smoke and yet still feel it's a waste
There are many different types and many brands
They all seem to leave tobacco smell on your hands
It gets in your clothes and even in your hair
In your house, in your car, it gets everywhere
I guess that's why the laws have changed
Because clean air for smoke is a bad exchange
So to smoke now days, we do what we have to
I don't know why I smoke, what about you?
Going outside on a very cold or hot day
To a smoking area somewhere out of the way
They say for non-smokers it just not fair
To have second hand smoke polluting the air
Soon we will have to decide what it's all worth
The day when they band smoking on the planet earth
If that ever happens, what will we do?
I guess I'll have to quit smoking, what about you?
