Autumn's Rhapsody
Autumn's Rhapsody
The rising sun reveals the shades of Autumn's Rhapsody.
A breathless sight I thought these eyes of mine might never see.
Too long in August's swelter; I was feeling so depressed,
The hint of Autumn's colors brings my soul some happiness.
Radiant red, burnt auburn, and fading shades of green,
Will overtake the hills and hollows along this lazy stream.
The fields will turn to glorious gold, the color of winter wheat,
Till they're fallowed into the ground, growing season now complete.
Bails of hay fill the barns; pumpkins and gourds to root cellars,
Apple cider will ferment, makes for happy harvest fellas,
Shortened days of Autumn's haze will bring on setting sun,
Fall's harvest now in earnest for there's much work to be done.
This breathless sight I feared that my eyes might never see
Will soon become the notes and chords of Autumn's Rhapsody:
"We plow the fields and gather the good things from the land,
But it was fed and watered by God's Almighty Hand."
At last, the rhapsody explodes my soul's unhappiness,
For summer's dying brings colors rich, and bountiful harvest.
If God can make Fall's dying in such glorious and fragrant hues,
Can He not do more to welcome home a prodigal or two?
Come join the song, while yet we live, sing out with total glee,
"Praise God from whom all blessings flow", our Autumn's Rhapsody.
For once again, the seasons flow, from one into another,
And all require the total Love of our Almighty Heavenly Father.
