Rhymes of the Heart
Stagnant
I walk through tears of crystal
Feel them shatter beneath my feet
As this lowly poet bows her head
And suffers in defeat
For words are somewhere in a void
Stagnant out of view
I cry I scream I grasp at straws
I don't know what to do
All that's sweet has drifted on
Like perfume on the wind
The hurt takes over pain remains
It's so much to comprehend
My mind is one blank fortress
Built of solid stone
Smiles and tears from long ago
Leave me feeling so alone
The inkwells dry the pages blank
For grief has taken hold
Like a lone leaf upon the limb
I'm left hanging in the cold
The sunshine isn't out there
This poet bows her head
As I walk through tears of crystal
All the pretty words are dead
