If you've walked by us with shame in your eyes...
we've probably looked back at you with guilt in ours.
If you wonder what we feel on the inside
if we even feel anything at all
well...we do.
we often wonder what it would've been like
to have that life...
to go to work..have someone to love
have someone to love us in return, without feeling sorry for us.
we wonder what freedom would be like...and try to recall the last time we had it..
before we became barricated in these chains.
we think about the last meal we ate and how we used to enjoy the taste..
we try to remember what else we used to do..before all this.
we think about the people we hurt..our mothers, our fathers...
the lies we told to our friends and our bosses...
sometimes we pray for rain..or possibly even a little pain...
something to let us know we're still breathing...
and sometimes we don't know why we are still here.
You probably think there's no reason for our existance, and for some of us..well maybe you're right..
maybe we'll never change...
but some of us are still hanging on..through the nightmares and the evil glares...
through the bitter taste in our mouths and the heart palpitations..
some of us are lucky...and some of us will never get a second chance
some of us are still staying strong...
because some of us have faith...
