 With A Kiss

In the group, but not of it
Stood one… as a candle unlit
Judas went his own way
For silver in his pocket.
He went his own way
In order to betray
The Lamb of
God.

In the group, but worlds apart
Satan entered into his heart
Preparing the lusts within
That focused on greed
A terrible seed
Tied directly
To sin.

In a moment and with a crowd
Things would rapidly change
And to some- would seem most strange
That the Son of God would receive a kiss
From one who appeared as a brother
Yet truly was serving another.

His pretense was well played
While engaged in the charade
Though Christ always knew
Of the upcoming act-
That influenced Judas
With no turning back.

Hate touched Christ with a kiss
And from the crowd, a wicked hiss.
With no turning back the deed was done
Cold hands were placed upon God's Son.
To neither hug nor hold, but to spit and scold,
The only One who walked without sin
Upon this earth from virgin birth
As our perfect, eternal
Atoning sacrifice.

How do we kiss the Son this day...
With gladness and joy
or with want to betray ?
