 THE TRAVELING LIFELONG BUSH POET

The Last Word

A mate and I called into a country pub
For a few beers on the way to a weekends fishing-
Ten semi's parked outside ' the drivers inside
All enjoying ' remembering and wishing-
All older long term truckers where they
When a much younger truck driver later came in-
The older guys poked fun at him big time
And laughed at him all standing with a grin-
They really made fun of him being young
So he soon drank up some and left the pub-
They laughed at him as he walked out
Yelling one day you might be a trucker bub-
Came time for them to leave and get on the road
Started their trucks parked neatly side by side-
Then almost at the same time the loudest noise
Sounded all over , everywhere far and wide-
The young bloke had pulled every turntable trailer pin
The trailers all hit the dust there in park-
Dropping every single one of them , noses down
The drivers all yelling and how they all did bark-
That young driver would have been so pleased
That with them he had the very last word-
But he had better chosen another road
And fly off into nowhere like a bird-
