Rhymes of the Heart

Until We Meet Again/by Danielle (Rogers) Earls

This was written by my oldest daughter
she lived with and cared for my aunt
her great aunt these past 5 years
her death has been really hard on her

Until We Meet Again

Aunt Dessie it's been a month today and nothing is the same
I keep whispering that I need you and screaming out your name

I wasn't there with you when god called your name
You had to go by yourself and I'm the one to blame

As I laid there on your bed
All these thoughts ran through my head

Of just how much you were aware
Did you ever know that I was there?

I have that painful memory still clearly in my head
Of walking in your room to only find you dead

You looked so peaceful lying there with your hands upon your chest
It was just like you were sleeping but this time eternal rest

No one heard my cries no one felt my pain
No one seen my tears that was falling like the rain

I did not say goodbye because I know it's not the end
So I just said farewell until we meet again
