It's been thirty nine years ago today
Since you my dear grandpa passed away
I was only fourteen in that year and time
Although I was young I still miss you grandpa of mine
You had pet names that you would call me
" Hey...Cottontop or Silkhead!" you'd say playfully
I sure do miss both grandma and you
Only six months apart that grandma passed too
You were both always my favorite grandparents
Although years have passed my heart won't forget
The love you showed on each and every visit
These memories of you both I will forever cherish
Awe...the smell of the old wood burning stove
It was always warm and toasty in your home
The family lost a link from it's heart chain
Since your passing nothing's been the same
It's sad I didn't have you long in my life
You missed out on my becoming a wife
As well as a mother and grandma too
I sure wish they all could've met you
Each time I hear The Judds sing " Grandpa"
I think of the years I have missed you and grandma
As well as aunts, uncles, cousins,my sister and mama too
Grandpa...a family reunion is long overdue
The good ole' days have come and gone
Many of my family have gone on home
My own family circle rarely I see
Grandpa...Someday in heaven please tell me

Pastor Linda Begley aka Your Cottontop :-)
