We all at times go back to see
Some place long ago we knew-
As some memories live forever
In reality how things change it's true-
That old bridge no longer there anymore
The roads now go different ways-
Not the same in any way at all
As they were back in those days-
Or visor versa nothings changed at all
The same old , same old mess-
One might have hoped for improvement
If one was to confess-
Old birds sit on that same old post and rail
That boat now half sunk near shore-
Old rocks now almost covered with sand
The boat shed leaning now with broken door-
Jetty now unsafe with missing boards
Once lovely trees dead now no longer grow-
That old seat still there but needs repair
And memories they come and go-
No body comes down here any more
There's a brand new swimming pool in town-
That once green grass we played on then
Surrounded by dead grass so very brown-
One often returns to places once known
With pictures in mind of ones yesterdays-
But places change as some people do as well
However those once memories last always-
Things are never the same as once back when
And then we were younger too-
Time ages everything,everything changes so
But some memories they never do-
Sometimes when ones leaves and goes far away
Unknowingly one grows so over time-
And one cannot go back to when anymore
To a memory way back down the line-
