Wish you were Here

Wish You Were Here

Lying awake at night thinking of yesterdays
The things we didn't do, the words we didn't say
Thought we had forever, enough days in our life time
To put off until tomorrow the things that were on our minds
The next day is not promised, these words often come to me
I wish you were here now, because back then I just couldn't see
This would be easier if I were just sending a postcard
I imagine the mail arrives as you are watering the front yard
Picturing your smile as you read of my good times where ever
Especially the part where I write I wish we were together
I just wish you were here, sometimes I feel so alone
It has been a while yet I can't except the fact that you're gone
If I had known that you would be leaving so soon
I would have wrote you a poem, maybe composed you a tune
I would have done something I don't know what it would be
But I would have let you know how much you meant to me
Life is not always fair, I guess we both kind of knew that
And we both probably said things in life we wanted to take back
If I had those moments back, what I would do
Is give you some better words that could have gone with you
I would tell you I love you more times than I did before
And I would definitely hug and kiss you a lot more
The world has become a cold place, dark and full of fear
I'm happy you are safe, but still I wish you were here
