All our friends were there
Could I even get a spare?
The houselights dimmed I was all alone
Room was spinning distance pins were shown
In the box there was to be prize money
My knees were weak my nose was runny
That I bowled at all was circumstance
To get a strike I had but one chance
As I threw the ball the alley grew silent
As all the pins fell a cheer out was sent
With my winnings I bought breakfast for all around
With this new unexpected wealth I had found
The babysitter said, "Your dog choked on a bone!"
"There was no way to get you on the phone."
I opened my wallet gave the vet that left from my prize money
As it was all that was left to the penny I found that funny
For if there is in life one chance at the colored pin
I had done it with a strike and that was enough to win
